Facebook

When I first thought about Facebook I thought, time wasted profile surfing, posted mindless information, and the over use of people bragging about their lives. Little to my surprise I found there is actually useful information, anywhere from business's communicating about product, organizations promoting their cause, scientists posting their research and individuals advertising themselves for jobs, promotions, etc. From being enrolled in Ales 204 for two weeks now I have learned that these social media outlets aren't just for your friends to post about the weather, or to tell you their at some restaurant, there is actual information that you could potentially use for your studies. I feel Facebook and Twitter have a bad rap, until you know the potential of both sites, they can be completely useless to you and waste your precious time.

Did you know if you have a Facebook account you can make a page about yourself, lets say resume type format and promote yourself? This is what we, Ales 204 students have been asked to do, check out my page here. We found out, employers these days don't just interview you to find out what kind of person you are, they now search you up on google too. Anything from Facebook photos, Facebook pages, blogs, and anything you have posted on the internet will appear when you are searched. This can either get you the job to have positive feedback from the google search, or negative because all they see is you partying.. All day, all night.

I think with having a blog and a Facebook page about yourself, puts you one step ahead of the rest. To be successful  you always have to be one step ahead in defining yourself from others. This Facebook page not only shows people who you are, but who you want to be.  Employers or future cliental look for someone who can adapt and is willing to change, because now there is always a smarter or faster way of completing a task with all the new technology that surrounds us. Jillian Michaels Facebook page
(Fitness Trainer from The Biggest Loser) inspires me to go for what I want. Although she is in a different industry (fitness), I aspire to her level of success. I want to be the dietitian on television shows teaching people how to eat healthy!

Another one of my class mates Lindsay Gervais is also interested about nutrition and the promotion of nutrition, check out her page here.
